The light of day faded several
hours ago. The chill of the night-time
air brushes red across our noses and cheeks and fingertips. Our mittened hands hold Christmas song
sheets, and our voices create a song on the air. Little white snowflakes drift down slowly
from the night sky, and bring with them an added bit of Christmas cheer.

On Wednesday, December 10th, 22 of us from the youth group went Christmas caroling. We joked that we could’ve walked to each house from the church, but we were quite thankful for the warm air blowing out of our vehicle’s heaters between each destination.
I
love Christmas music. I don’t roll my
eyes when it starts playing non-stop after Thanksgiving. I turn the radio up! I switch from station to station to find the
best songs, but it plays continuously at my house the month of December each
year. Ballads, nostalgic notes,
Christmas tunes with an upbeat flair; Evie singing “Come On Ring Those Bells”
is always a highlight! I know we should
live like it’s Christmas-time all year, but I just absolutely love the cheer
and hope and anticipation that emanates from our hearts this time of year. I think because it seems that everyone shares
in the wonder, and you can almost catch a teeny, tiny glimpse of what it will
feel like to share in the glory of Jesus with thousands of others one day!
So,
for me, making a Christmas joyful noise is just really extra special!, and I
was so touched & impressed & humbled that the youth just sang their
hearts out as we (hopefully) blessed some fellow congregants that night. They got their 4-part harmony on, and hardly
missed a beat (other than a few giggles) when the music got way too high or way
too low. J J
You
all remember that age, right? You kinda
wanna be cool or look cool. So what
touches our advisors hearts the most is when we witness these youth just being the
heart of Jesus to others. No
pretense. Just living for Him. I am guessing each of us advisors spent a
chorus or two just smiling & listening to their voices sharing Christmas
carols with others.
Kinda
makes one want to schedule a Christmas caroling flash-mob somewhere…sometime…giggle.giggle.
